| SAVVY TRAVEL TIP |
Quality Time Online
Hours and hours can disappear when surfing the net. Why not give yourself the assignment of finding the dream vacation for you and your family? Do this when you aren’t actually planning on going just to see what is possible. In other words, plan a virtual vacation, dream big and see where those dreams take you. It’s a useful exercise, beyond the frantic looking “for real”—and the time spent will be well spent. You’d be surprised what you can come up with when the pressure is off. The perfect beach rental? A long weekend in Ireland? A family road trip to state parks? It’s all there at your fingertips.

Tampa Bay History Center

Tampa, FL—The new Tampa Bay History Center, billed as being “exactly what you didn’t expect,” has received top reviews and a thumbs-up from the many visitors who have seen this impressive green building since it opened earlier this year. Located at 801 Old Water Street, the 60,000-square-foot, four-story structure showcases 12,000 years of history with interactive exhibits, historic artifacts and old maps. “Florida’s First People” describes the Tocobaga and Calusa tribes, while other exhibits chronicle the sixteenth-century Spanish and French explorers, old Florida’s first cattle ranchers, and the railroad tycoons who built up this part of Florida. A 1920s cigar store recreation pays tribute to the industry that make Tampa famous. Twenty years in the making, the museum also houses the Witt Research Center, containing more than 4,000 historic photographs of Tampa Bay and environs. Visit www.tampabayhistorycenter.org or call (813)228-0097 for details.
