SAVVY TRAVEL TIP
De-stress from Vacation

You come home from a relaxing vacation only to throw yourself right back into the stress-filled routine you were trying escape from in the first place. The solution is to plan for and insist upon a “reentry” day, one where you can catch up on mail at home, unpack, do your laundry, reconnect with neighbors, pick up the dog, and download the vacation photos. Consider it vacation insurance and a good way to transition back into your busy life.

FOCUS ON
Hard Rock Park Opens

Myrtle Beach, SC—The party has started with the May 2008 opening of the $400-million, 55-acre Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, the largest theme park to open in the United States in a decade. Providing 3,000 local jobs and introducing 50 attractions, including never before seen ride technology, the developers are banking on lots of visitors coming to experience what is being billed as a "modern family vacation." The park’s “rock environs,” including Born in the USA, British Invasion, Cool Country, Lost in the 70s, and Rock and Roll Heaven, are themed for specific music genres and feature entertainment venues in each for all ages so that families can stay together. Led Zeppelin—The Ride is a centerpiece of the park with a 120-foot tall loop, 75-foot-tall zero G roll and speeds up to 65 mph. Live musical performances, interactive attractions, children’s play areas, restaurants, and retail stores are on tap for $50 “per rocker” (children three and under are free) and $150 for an annual pass. There’s even a “Check it out! Guarantee” if the park doesn’t “rock your world” within 30 minutes. Hard Rock Park is located three miles from the beach at 211 George Bishop Parkway (www.hardrockpark.com).

DINING IN NASHVILLE

Radius 10
Chef Jason Brumm brings together an eclectic modern American menu, combining his earlier experiences at the French-inspired Flagstaff House in Colorado and a stint in Seaside, Florida, mixing Southern roots with haute cuisine for a fresh, new approach to dining. The modern scene at Radius 10 fits right in with the trendy Gulch neighborhood. You may opt for the seasonal tasting menu, which may feature “low country” shrimp and scallops served with creamy grits, roasted corn, forest mushroom, and asparagus ragout. The pork tenderloin features bacon cheddar grits, mustard greens, crispy onions, and bourbon molasses jus. Catch the action in the kitchen at the Chef Bar, where you can enjoy lobster pizza with basil pesto, roasted corn salad, goat cheese, and pancetta or try the classic margherita pizza. Did we mention the killer cocktails and nice beer selection? (1103 McGavock Street; (615)259-5105; www.radius10.com).
